Annell's picks: Seven Mile Beach Restaurants

“The people who give you their food give you their heart”, and that’s especially true at the restaurants on Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman. Having visited the island with my family on eight different occasions during the last decade or so, I can honestly that I have been blessed with some outstanding meals at various eateries at this great location.  The restaurants here are filled with passion, love and high-quality food. After a day resting in the Cayman sun, there is no better way to prepare for another day’s relaxation than to indulge oneself in a heart-warming meal on Seven Mile Beach. Here are some of my favourite restaurants on Seven Mile Beach, starting with a touch of Italy.

Ragazzi

This is a truly remarkable place. Year on year we have returned to this piece of Italy in the Caribbean, and year on year, we have been overwhelmed by its excellent cuisine.

Ragazzi is located on Buckingham Square, off West Bay Road. With a history of quality dining, it’s safe to say that the overall experience here is one of a kind, with welcoming staff and meals filled with passion.

You’ll be greeted with a basket of freshly baked bread followed by an array of choices for appetizers, main and desserts. As you would expect, there is a particular focus on fresh salads, pasta, pizzas, and fish. There’s also a specials board – keep an eye out for that! And of course, the wine list is extensive……

As a family, we have never been disappointed with our meals at Ragazzi. If my parents are willing to travel 5,000 miles for the Penne Lobster at Ragazzi, who am I to complain?

PEPPERS

Want to indulge in local cuisine, then Peppers is the place for you! With live music filling the air and delicious local Caribbean food, there’s nowhere better to enjoy a meal with friends or family. It’s certainly a hot spot for locals, which is always a good sign.

The choice of food and drink is extensive with something for everyone. I would recommend the chargrilled snapper or Rasta pasta, with a frozen strawberry daiquiri to drink. I would also recommend a side – the French fries are always crispy and delicious.

Of course, you don’t have to wait until evening for your meal at Peppers – it’s also open lunchtime.  It includes indoor seating therefore if the heat is too much or if it’s raining (as we recently experienced!) you can still enjoy the superb Caribbean flavours.

LUCA

Located as part of the Caribbean Club on West Bay Road, Luca offers contemporary Italian seaside fine dining with breathtaking views of Seven Mile Beach. This is a truly magical place! It is a perfect location for your date night or Sunday brunch.

This is a hidden gem with the seafood and steaks out of this world. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.

COCONUT JOES

Local cuisine, live music and a large screen to watch your favourite sports. Coconut Joe's is located close to the Marriot Hotel on Seven Mile Beach. This is the ideal location to dine with your friends in a comfortable and informal environment.

There will be something on the menu to suit all visitors but I would most certainly recommend the fajitas – the best on the island!  If you fancy going for a meal on Wednesday, there’s a delicious, heart-warming, Caribbean buffet waiting for you for only $32.95.
