A visit to the tranquil Cayman Islands is about as idyllic as island living gets. The holy grail of Seven Mile Beach – is perhaps the biggest draw to Grand Cayman, extending 6.3 miles long, the pristine beach is filled with plenty of foot traffic, via the multiple luxury hotels, shops and exquisite restaurants offering the best culinary experience and options in the Caribbean.
But there’s more to the Cayman Islands than just Seven Mile. If you’re in search of minimal human interaction and a beach with a little more seclusion, this list of under the radar beaches may well have what you’re looking for.
Barefoot Beach
Avoiding large crowds is what Barefoot Beach is all about. Located in the northeast of Grand Cayman you will find this secluded gem. Without a soul in sight, you will find a quaint destination to read your book in peace or have a bit of a snorkel around Geneva Kathleen Shipwreck, easily reachable by a short swim. Make sure to bring your shoes as it’s a decent trek to reach this hidden treasure.
Point of Sand Beach - Little Cayman
If there’s something Little Cayman has an abundance of, it’s hidden beaches. If you are in the search of clear water lines and greenery, then look no further than Point of Sand. Located in the tip of Little Cayman you will be able to take a swim in the crystal waters of the Caribbean sea, or simply lay back beneath a palm tree and daydream.
Once you’ve arrived in Little make sure to spend time in the water. This sister island is known for its exceptional diving, and snorkeling spots.
Barkers Beach
A local favorite! This charming beach is a hidden gem to most tourists. Set in the depths of West Bay, Barker’s beach is a remote destination for those looking to immerse themselves with nature.
It almost feels like you’ve teleported into your very own private island. The ocean views will have you looking at the northerly tip of Grand Cayman. Be sure to bring your camera. This natural wonder is filled with excellent photogenic spots. Do be warned, when in season you will find multiple kite surfers trying to catch a wave – but we prefer to look at it as free entertainment.
Public Beaches in South Sound
Getting the peace, you deserve doesn’t have to cost you your petrol money. These secluded beaches are right in the heart of it all? Ironic, yes but we promise you won’t regret it!
The multiple public beaches around South Sound are often overlooked and actually make for a lovely beach day. Thanks to the ‘Public Beach’ signage you will be able to spot every entry. After a short walk down the slender pathway you will reach something special: an open quiet beach to walk along and listen to a good podcast. If you are looking to extend your beach day, we recommend you bring a towel and some food. South Sound beaches are a great place to enjoy a picnic and take in the stunning Cayman sunsets.
